VISION STATEMENT
To be a Christ-centred Community, Teaching and Reaching Others through Total Ministry.
MISSION TENETS
We will work towards achieving our vision by:
- proclaiming the good news of the kingdom;
- teaching, baptizing and nurturing new believers;
- responding to human needs through loving service;
- seeking to transform the unjust structures of society;
- striving to safeguard the integrity of creation and sustaining and renewing the life of the earth.
CORE VALUES
The PRINCIPLES and VALUES which we embrace to guide our journey through Mission towards the Vision have been taken from St. Paul’s perception of that which appropriately expresses Christian character, which he describes as the “Fruit of the Spirit”:
Love, Joy, Peace, Patience, Kindness, Goodness, Faithfulness,Gentleness, Self-control. (Gal. 5:22)
- Love: giving individual and personal care and compassion for others, demonstrating sensitivity to the needs in people; showing respect to God, for order and system, for the rights and privileges of others and for self.
- Joy: expressing thankfulness, contentment and happiness as we journey through life; showing outwardly the delight and the art of appreciation in marriage, parenthood, work, growing up and growing older; giving thanks and praise.
- Peace: exhibiting calmness and serenity in times of trouble; controlling one’s temper and the temptation to react to the meanness in others.
- Patience: exercising sustained endurance and perseverance; forbearance towards the faults or infirmities of others; the habit of awaiting events or outcomes without complaint.
- Kindness: the tendency to seek to understand rather than confront others; acting in the interest of or for the well-being and comfort of others.
- Goodness: committing to personal excellence; taking responsibility for own actions; overcoming the tendency to blame others for difficulties; being aware of and the development of one’s gifts and uniqueness toward the common good.
- Faithfulness: living the commitments that go with marriage and that should go with family loyalty, our Christian stewardship and faith.
- Gentleness: demonstrating awareness and conviction that being considerate is more admirable than being tough and rough.
- Self-control: the ability to balance self discipline in speaking, eating, exercising, financial dealings and creative efforts.
